Apple Crumble o crumble de manzana

The Perfect Apple Crumble

A couple of weekends ago we went as a family to apple picking and looking for how to use them, I remembered that I had wanted to make an apple crumble for a long time, that is, an apple cooked with a little cinnamon and with a crunchy on top. I can assure you that it has become one of my favorite recipes, super easy to make, you don’t need many ingredients and it is ideal to surprise friends and family.

It can be kept at room temperature for 2 days, in the refrigerator for 3 or 4 days and it can also be frozen if it is wrapped in transparent paper and put in an airtight bag. I hope and wish that you like the recipe as much as I and my family do.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1kg apples (honeycrisp or others)
  • 100g sugar
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 500g all-purpose flour
  • 200g unsalted butter
  • 200g sugar
  • 1 tbsp baking powder (15g)
  • 1 egg
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla

DIRECTIONS

  1. Peel and cut the apples into squares.
  2. We put them over medium heat with the sugar (100g), and the lemon, for about 8-10 minutes until the water that it releases evaporates.
  3. When the apples are almost ready, add the cinnamon.
  4. Remove from heat and allow to cool to room temperature.
  5. Meanwhile, in a large container, put: the flour, the butter, 200g of sugar, the baking powder, the egg, the pinch of salt and the vanilla and mix with your hands until it becomes like clay, not very fine not very chunky.
  6. With a little butter, grease the mold that will later go into the oven.
  7. Pour half of the dough that we just made and press to form the base, also prick with a fork.
  8. Now on top of the base the cooked apples are added and distributed throughout the mold.
  9. The remaining dough is distributed on top as if it were crumbs, without crushing.
  10. Now we take it to the preheated oven at 180ºC for about 50 or 55 minutes or until the top is golden.
  11. Let it cool to room temperature and enjoy it alone or with a little ice cream.
